Asian Pacific region tops global office attendance rates: JLL
JLL’s research study indicates that, in spite of a global go back to the office, Asia Pacific (Apac) workers remain in the workspace than their likes in the United States and UK. In a Dec 1 press release, the consultancy considers that while workplace presence in the United States and UK averages approximately 2 days a week, Apac countries demonstrate higher presence, averaging over 4 days each week.
Usually, employees globally spend just over 3 days weekly in the workplace, with optimal appearance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, states JLL. It adds that variations in office attendance throughout various markets are largely due to a combination of social nuances, living setups and other structural elements.
Koul suggests creating dynamic spaces accommodating collaborative and focused work to fulfill employees’ recurring demand for human network. He adds this will be one of the most efficient strategy to motivate standard office presence.
In the Apac region, Taiwan leads with people participating in the workplace 4.7 days a week, followed by India (4.4 days), South Korea (4.2 days), Japan (3.8 days), and Singapore (3.4 days). Thailand reports a regular workplace attendance of 3.3 days, while Australia remains at 3.1 days.

As in-office assumptions persist, workplace presence is anticipated to escalate. JLL includes that employees appreciate the workplace as a center for socialisation, innovation and professional growth. “The workplace has always been, and will still be, central to work experience and society,” claimed Susheel Koul, JLL’s CEO of work designs, Asia Pacific.
New office participation directives and evolving hybrid plans have led to workforces spending more time in the workplace. A year-long report performed by JLL across over 20,000 office workers worldwide reveals that since 1H2023, 80% of staff members were investing three or even more days each week in the office, compared to 51% in 1H2022 and 59% in 2H2022. “On the whole, most global organisations internationally (87%) are motivating their staff members to do the job from the workplace a minimum of some of the time,” JLL adds.
